Boobie Beer | a beer a day

Wallace is approaching six months and as solid foods become more prevalent in our daily routine and I face an inevitable decline in milk production, I have decided to have one beer a day to keep a steady milk flow.  Beer that is low in alcohol and rich in hops has been used for centuries to encourage milk supply and after many recommendations, I decided to give it a try.  Bryan and I have coined this new nightcap "boobie beer."

Since I am limiting myself to one beer a day, it has got to be the best beer for the job and be rich in hops which acts as a galactagogue (a food or drug that increases mother's milk).  This beer also needs to be low in alcohol as the effects of alcohol will counterbalance the benefits of the hops.

I have tried several different brews over the last few weeks and here are some of my favorites:

1. Shake Chocolate Porter

2. Bison Chocolate Stout

3. Left Hand Milk Stout

4. Maui Coconut Porter

5. Guiness Extra Stout

All of these beers all have around a around 6% ABV and some have additional flavor profiles including coconut and chocolate.  Chocolate beer?  Yes please.  Drinking has never been a daily thing for me but I am enjoying this new process.  I don't even mind that I can't tell where my baby belly stops and my beer belly starts because my milk is coming in strong.  If you find yourself in need of an additional milk push, I implore you to try one of the boobie brews listed above.  Enjoy.
