When I was pregnant I doused myself in body butter. Several times a day I would cover my belly, boobs and butt to make sure I did not get any stretch makes and hooray, none. Not a one. I am not sure if this is due to my obsessive oiling or genetics but I think greasing up is a good idea and if you are going to be putting anything on your skin, especially when you're pregnant, it should natural.
I experimented with a couple of different versions of body butter and have stuck with one that has both cacao butter and lavender oil. This combination is rich and floral making it absolutely heavenly plus it is super simple to make.
1 tablespoon Cocoa butter
2 tablespoons Shea butter
1/4 cup Coconut oil
5 drops Lavender essential oil
- Heat cocoa butter, shea butter and coconut oil in a double broiler or pyrex on the stove over low heat until soft.
- Transfer to small mixing bowl and add lavender.
- Mix with a hand mixer on low until combined (about a minute). Pour into small jar.
- Place in the refrigerator until cooled.
*I keep this is the fridge during the summer months so it doesn't melt but during the cooler months you can keep in an airtight container in your house.
