Magnesium Baths

Bath time has always been a sacred time for me.  As a child it was a time for play and I would enjoy building large bubble castles or wearing bubble beards.  As a teenager, it was a time where I would listen to music and sing aloud.  As a young adult, I would use this time to detox and decompress.  Now as a mother, baths are a time for solitude and relaxation.  With a constant shortage of hours in the day, and need to kill two birds with one stone, I am now taking magnesium baths.  Even my hygiene ritual has become a sort of life hack that enables me to cross off two boxes at once but with all of the additional health benefits of soaking in salt, I cannot believe I didn't implement this sooner.

here are some of the benefits of taking magnesium baths:

  • Stress relief
  • Muscle aches
  • Increasing insulin sensitivity
  • Improving circulation
  • Better nutrient absorption
  • Headache relief
  • Speeding up wound healing
  • For children to help mineral absorption and improve sleep
  • For acne, eczema or other skin problems
  • For joint pain relief
  • To help relieve poison ivy or skin reactions
  • Improving skin hydration

In addition to the benefits listed above, now I am forced to sit in the bath for a minimum of 20 minutes.  This is a brief period of time that I am designating for myself daily which forces me to slow down, take some deep breaths and listen to my inner voice.  To take a magnesium bath simply add 1/2 cup magnesium flakes to your bath water and soak for a minimum of 20 minutes at least once a week.

*optional: add 5 drops essential oil of your choice, I like to add lavender to reduce stress and encourage peace
