I recently had the pleasure of photographing Biggest Baby Shower Los Angeles. For those of you who shoot events, you know it's hard work and you seldom remember to eat. Towards the end of the night, in a state of hunger, I stumbled over to Oat Mama and started talking with the two woman running the booth. We bonded over breastfeeding and they asked me if I would like a sample of their bars. Before the Oat Mamas could finish their offer, I had ripped into a bar with my teeth and began devouring it. They both started laughing, I assumed it was their delirium but no. They were laughing because, right next to the wrapped bars, there was an entire plate of samples that I had overlooked.
That is how I met Kristy and Eliza, the two beautiful women behind Oat Mama, a wildly delicious lactation bar. I really loved these two immediately and the fact that they allowed me to steal their product, demonstrated their true desire to nourish nursing moms. They are committed. They also created Oat Mama in their kitchens as two friend's bonding over baking and boobs. It's a true labor of love and you can taste the love in these bars.
For me, it is hard to prepare food and make sure that you have enough calories to produce milk. This is something that I have struggled with recently. I usually start working in the morning and will drink coffee until lunch before I realize that I have nothing in my system. Empty belly = empty boobies so Oat Mama has been a real game changer of as late. These bars are loaded with galactogogues including oats, brewer's yeast and cashews. I should also mention that there is a bar for every type of person and my two favorite flavors are the Chocolate Almond Coconut and the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip.
If you're in the market for a little lactation support, Oat Mama is here to help.
