Respiratory Health Tonic

There are two facts that are undeniable about living in Los Angeles.  You will sit in traffic and you will breathe polluted air.  These are usually the two things mentioned when I have family come into town.  First it's "you can see all of the pollution in the air from the airplane" and then it's "and this traffic is terrible."  Bad air is a part of LA life and in the summer it is significantly worse.  I am sure you have read about the fires that have been hitting Southern California as of late, and I bet you have seen a handful of impactful images of a very orange and smoky sky.  The smoke mixed withe the dry summer heat has made the air pretty intense so I sought out a tonic that helps with respiratory health with Cordyceps, which increases oxygen absorption and overall respiratory function.  After making this delicious recipe, I think I will start drinking regularly to combat the dirty Los Angeles air.

  • First, brew tea for your base.  I used Roobios which boosts the immune system.
  • Add 1/2 cup of brewed tea to your blender.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1/2 teaspoon Cordyceps, 1 full dropper Rhodiola (which increases lung capacity) and this stevia to taste.

This recipe is from Christine Della Cioppa, my sweet herbalist friend.  See her incredible artwork here.
